I'm being interviewed LIVE today!

This morning I get to talk about something I LOVE. Creativity.

Tune in and be inspired!
10am MST

Imaginibbles was born from the imagination of Tamara, the Chief Imaginator. As a full-time innovation consultant, idea tinkerer, wife, mom and more she believes all of us have that imaginative energy inside just waiting to get out.

I've know her for years, I can assure you she is someone totally connected to the ever flowing river of imaginative thinking, it is her goal to help everyone – young, old, child, adult – unleash and harness their imaginative selves.

Savasana, my favorite pose

Savasana - "Corpse Pose" is a yoga asana most often used to conclude the practice.
A time to stretch out, relax, breathe, and digest the flow of the work just done with your
body.

It's REALLY a great pose to start with
YOU can do it

Lay back on your yoga mat
arms and legs are relaxed and open
spread palms to the sky
close your eyes
slowly deepen your breathing

It's good to stop
and breathe

Daily Practice, day 5

Yeah! I made it to Friday doing Yoga everyday.

I even had a few "double double" days
my sunrise practice + 5:30pm Tues and Thurs
Tammy teaches at Pat Guyton's Pilates Studio

I had a transcendental experience with my balls yesterday.
We've been using balls for months now and I found some wonderful
release rolling on them starting at the base of my spine.

There was a spot near my scapula
balls on either side of my spine
I felt a huge shift in my core
I had the urge to sit up
I found a spot of balance
a modified boat
floating
legs bent and outstretched
arms feeling the air
drifting deeper into myself

Sound

TOP SECRET

OM... a sound 3 parts
ha
ahhh
ommmmmmme

sounds like HOME to me
I use them in 3's

Sound transformed my practice.
Sound FEELS good to my skin
Harmony arrives deep within

It was a little scary at first.
Tammy said "We're bringing in OM today"
OM celebrating
birth
life
death
and silence

We took a breath together and exhaled
my first timid om came to life
Sound gets in
under my skin
I learn to deepen my breath
I play with different notes
My skin tingles
my teeth vibrate

om...

Magic Crystal Singing Bowl - I have great friends! My friend Kimba loaned me a bowl to use in my practice. I have learned how to infuse sound into my life in a way that harmonizes and balances out my stress. She showed me how to make the bowl sing, then we poured some water into the bowl and the vibration of the sounds made the water inside the bowl come to life! The edges sparkled as the sound waves moved across the surface of the water, then we spoke our intentions into the space we created, then we poured some of the water into a cup and drank it. Yep it's a Magic Crystal Singing Bowl.

PROPS

Blocks, Straps, Balls and Bowls

OH MY

so many toys to play with!

Blocks are essential for building up your mad yoga skills!
You and your yoga block will soon be enjoying BFF status. Blocks help out in so many poses; Triangle, Half Moon, Pigeon and more, they help you reach the floor (or not) balancing out the body. Even just sitting allowing your hips to open in a more relaxed position.

Strap on, strap off - Straps are like the "go, go gadget arms" of Yoga. Can't reach your toes, grab your strap, loop it around feet and Ta DA! You CAN reach your toes. Happy Baby, Tree, Hip Openers, Shoulder openers. Your strap is an extension of you, and is also useful to hold up my pants when Yoga makes my clothes fall off.

Balls are empowering, opening and expansive. Mine are blue, and I grab them often.
Placing the balls up and down my spine, lifting my legs into the air, scooping up from the tip of my tailbone. Oh yeah baby, balls rock.

Mat - Yoga Mats come in all shapes, colors, textures, patterns and levels of squishiness

Clearly this is a personal choice.

Perhaps you dashed into Target before your first class only to discover that the only Yoga Mats in the whole place are pink with brighter pink flowers. At this moment you can choose to embrace your inner pink flowery goodness or go YOGA commando (AKA Yoga Rogue) and show up to class and hope there is a mat to use.

Advantage - no permanent pink mat for you
Disadvantage - I wonder who stood here be

Pink is the new black

Accoutrements of Yoga, part 1

Accoutrements of Yoga, part 1

The most important thing you need to do Yoga is YOU!

Be Breath - ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Be Hydrated - Water, Water, Water, Water
Be Present - Arrive in the moment
Be Gentle - With You
Be Open - To try new things
Be Cause - This is your life, your body, your choice

Shed this suit of shame
Let me be reborn
Embrace
This soul upon my face
Awake the child inside

Daily Practice, take 5, Day 3

I love Yoga,
I love how Yoga makes me feel.

I've started a daily Yoga practice.

It's not always an hour of sun salutations
warrior poses, and inversions.
Sometimes, it's simply showing up
in the morning with a few intentional breaths

This morning
6:15 am - dark and cold
I arrived at her door
the lights weren't on,
I left my cellphone at home
who was I going to need
to call at this hour?

New Asana
find my prana
giggling
paws on the ground

she likes her poses bound

Unfold Me

Orange Journal, near August 11, 2009

Unfold Me

I feel
I can open
My body is smart
I know
I need
Breath
Space
Movement
Ground
to stand upon
to sleep within
Freedom
Destiny
Space
Fly

Once upon a yoga mat

Once upon a yoga mat
With myself I simply sat
I put my ass upon the floor
I found my breath and connected my core
Inhale
Exhale
Forward bend
Deep inside things start to mend
Finding space between my toes
breathing in through my nose
Stacking my bones
Strong and still
I start to exert free will
A simple choice
That's mine to make
Simply shine bright
Real not fake
How I am feeling
What I express
Things I uncover
Drenched and a mess
It's not always simple
Certainly not cool
It's like nothing I ever learned in school
Trust in my body
Strength in my soul
We begin with strengthening my pelvic bowl
